Micron (MU) Stock: $902 After Sandisk’s Beat and a 5%…

Updated 30 October 2026. Micron (MU) closed Thursday at $934.27, down 4.98 percent, and traded at $902.43 after hours at 7:59 pm ET (StockAnalysis), as Sandisk’s results beat but its shares fell. On Friday the KOSPI dropped more than 5 percent, with SK hynix down 8.65 percent and Samsung down 6.03 percent by late morning in Seoul (Korea Times). Verdict: the demand data from Sandisk is strong, but the market is selling memory on doubts about AI spending returns, and Micron is set to open under $910. Reference levels: $820 below, $1,050 above.

Key facts

  • Price: MU closed at $934.27 on 29 October, down $48.96 or 4.98 percent from Wednesday’s $983.23, after a $927.24-$971.01 range; after hours it was $902.43, down a further 3.41 percent (StockAnalysis).
  • Range and targets: 52-week range $192.59-$1,255.00; average analyst target $1,561.91; market value about $1.06 trillion (StockAnalysis).
  • Sandisk read-through: fiscal Q1 revenue of $11.0 billion against about $10.7 billion expected, datacenter revenue up 61 percent sequentially and a $12.2-$12.6 billion guide – yet SNDK fell 5.32 percent in the session and further after hours (Investing.com).
  • Seoul, Friday: the KOSPI fell 5.25 percent to 5,626.02 at 11:20 am local time; SK hynix fell 8.65 percent and Samsung Electronics 6.03 percent (Korea Times). A sell-side sidecar triggered at 10:04 am, the first in 11 sessions (Invezz).
  • Flows: by 10:25 am foreign investors had net sold 553.7 billion won of Korean shares and institutions 240.9 billion won, while retail investors bought 709.3 billion won (Invezz).
  • The trigger: Alphabet fell 12.6 percent on Thursday after its capex-heavy quarter, and the Nasdaq Composite fell 1.38 percent (Invezz).

Two read-throughs pulling in opposite directions

For Micron’s business, Thursday night’s Sandisk report was good news. Sandisk’s chief executive David Goeckeler said “demand remains strong and continues to grow”, and its CFO said about 40 percent of the quarter’s growth came from higher prices (call transcript via Investing.com). Datacenter storage sales rose 61 percent in three months. Earlier in the week, SK hynix said its DRAM and HBM capacity was sold out through 2029, which lifted Micron 5.9 percent on Wednesday (see our Micron page from Thursday).

For Micron’s share price, the market cared more about who pays for all of this. Alphabet’s quarter showed free cash flow turning negative as capex more than doubled (our Alphabet results page has the numbers), and investors sold the suppliers whose growth depends on that spending. Pepperstone’s Chris Weston told Reuters that markets were questioning “an adequate return on the enormous capital being deployed.” Korean chip stocks, up 9.93 percent in two sessions through Wednesday, gave back much of it on Friday despite record third-quarter operating profit of 107.4 trillion won at Samsung and 83.33 trillion won at SK hynix (Invezz).

Where that leaves MU

Micron has now given back Wednesday’s entire jump and more. At $902.43 after hours it sits about 28 percent below its $1,255 52-week high and about 42 percent below the $1,561.91 average analyst target. Memory names have traded as a block all week, so the size of the US open is likely to track how much of Seoul’s drop carries into New York. Our Sandisk page for Friday covers the results in detail.

Micron stock: bull, base and bear

Scenario MU What has to happen Anchor
Bear $820 The AI-capex selloff deepens in the US session, SK hynix’s Friday drop sets the tone and memory names keep de-rating despite strong demand data. About 9 percent below the $902.43 after-hours quote and below the $877.55 level MU traded at on 26 October (FX Leaders).
Base $880-$985 The sector stabilises after two days of selling, but Micron cannot reclaim Wednesday’s level until AI spending fears ease. Near the 26 October level up to Wednesday’s $983.23 close.
Bull $1,050 Investors return to the supply story: Sandisk’s guide, SK hynix’s sold-out capacity and record Korean memory profits. About 16 percent above the after-hours quote and still about 16 percent below the $1,255 52-week high.

The bear case sits below the latest quote. These are reference levels measured from the verified after-hours price, not forecasts.

What to watch

  • The KOSPI close: whether Seoul recovers from its late-morning low before the US open.
  • Sandisk’s open: SNDK is the cleanest read on how the market is pricing the memory results.
  • $877.55: the 26 October level; a break would erase the whole SK hynix rally.
  • Big Tech capex: any sign that the hyperscalers trim spending plans after this week’s investor reaction.

Quick take: Micron closed at $934.27 on Thursday and traded at $902.43 after hours, then the KOSPI fell more than 5 percent on Friday with SK hynix down 8.65 percent. Sandisk’s beat says memory demand is strong; the market is selling on AI spending returns. Expect $880-$985; $820 if the selloff deepens, $1,050 if investors return to the supply story.
